PROPHETIC DIRECTION IN PRAYING FOR ZIMBABWE.
PROPHETIC
DIRECTION IN PRAYING FOR ZIMBABWE.
In such a time as this, we need to have a long term
view and be sensitive to the Spirit so that He can guide us to fight the right
battles and plant the right seeds. It is a period that is leaving a lot of
vacuums in the spiritual realm and as the church we have to maximize the
opportunity and allow God to use us as the agents who will use our creative
abilities of words to bring the will of the Kingdom of Heaven. Let us allow Him
to speak to us and give us the right words that will bring his will, not following
blindly but that we plant the prophetic heavenly will over our nation. His word
is in our mouth and we have to shape the prophetic destiny of Zimbabwe.
As the Lord God says in His word,
And I have put My words in
your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the
heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, 'You are My
people.'" NKJV
On the 25th of
October 2017 which was the opening day of the 5th Edition of the Arise
Africa Annual Conference (AAAC) we had a Prophetic Intercession Session for
Zimbabwe and Africa and the Lord gave us direction to pray for our nation from
two portions of scripture which I believe will still have to guide us as we
continue to pray for our nation. When there are opportunities of changes and
transitions, we have to pray that the enemy will not direct the course of
change but be available to bring Kingdom directed change.
1.
The
First Direction for praying for Zimbabwe and Africa was, Zechariah 1: 18-21
which says,
Then I looked up — and there
before me were four horns! I asked the
angel who was speaking to me, "What are these?"
He answered me, "These
are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem."
Then the Lord showed me four
craftsmen. I asked, "What are these
coming to do?"
He answered, "These are
the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head, but the
craftsmen have come to terrify them and throw down these horns of the nations
who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter its
people."
According to the scripture
there were kingdoms that had impacted negatively on Israel and scattered it. In
like manner there are also forces that have worked negatively against our nation
and continent and if we are to identify the top four it would be Colonialism, Idolatry, Superstition and
Corruption.
Colonialism saw our resources being taken over and also
came with a system that colonised our mentality so that it would be difficult
to rise and realise sustainable development on our own.
In terms of idolatry, Scripture says,
“But their idols are silver
and gold, made by the hands of men……Those who make them will be like them, and
so will all who trust in them”. (Ps 115:4, 8) NIV.
Our foundations were built on
the foundations of the worship of the Mbuya Nehandas, and we continue to
worship and deify our leaders in the nation and now in the church. In the end
we become like what we worship and continue propagating idolatry.
In close relations to idolatry
is superstition. What we cannot
understand we deify and what we deify we worship and what we revere we cannot
learn from. The misunderstandings of respect and honour whereby we are afraid
to question what we respect are superstition strongholds. This has made people
to follow blindly and fail to think strategically and progressively. This makes
people expect change in their situations, experiences and outcomes without
themselves changing their thinking and actions. This explains why even in the
church people are being led to do unheard of and crazy practices by their
leaders and are afraid to question.
Corruption
is
a social evil that needs no explanation as it is slowly pervading and corroding
our living from the top to the bottom.
Prayer
Points:
As
in the above mentioned scripture in Zechariah, to deal with the four horns we
need four craftsmen, one for each horn. We need to be praying that God will
raise not just four craftsmen (skilled people) but as many as are required to
deal with four horns of colonialism, idolatry, superstition and corruption that
have impacted negatively against the development that we need for us and the
future generations. In a season such as this when there is room for transition
and change lets pray that God will raise people with skill and understanding to
deal with these challenges not only in politics but also in different spheres
that shape and mould culture including education, media, business, arts,
religion and family.
2.
The Second
Prophetic Prayer Direction is on the kind of prophetic Intercessors for change
as in Daniel 9,
In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel,
understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah
the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with
him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. [Daniel 9:
2-3]
Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even
the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused
to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. And he
informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to
give thee skill and understanding. [Daniel 9:21-22]
Prayer
Points:
As
we engage in prayer for Zimbabwe we need insight to understand the situation
according to the word of God as did Daniel in the first portion above. Many
people have been praying for the nation and some have grown weary because they
have been praying blindly and their kind of expected change is not coming. Effective
transformational prayer requires the kind of skill and understanding that
Daniel received from the Angel. Israel’s deliverance happened two years earlier
than the prophesied 70 years because Daniel interceded with skill and
understanding. May the Lord grant those interceding for the nation, skill and
understanding and also those who will bring the transformation in Politics,
Arts, Business, Media, Education, Religion and Family like skill and
understanding.
3.
Prayer for
discerning the true voices for Kingdom Transformation and more room for new
relevant voices that Zimbabwe needs on various media spaces.
What has been happening in Zimbabwe over
the past one week clearly demonstrates the power of media from the television,
internet, print and social media. People have been tossed in different
directions and emotions have been steered in one direction or the other.
Prayer
Points
The
church has to pray firstly for the ability to discern the voices that are
relevant in bringing about change that makes way for Kingdom advancement which
inevitably results in satisfaction and progress in human lives without
violation of Human Rights.
We
need also to pray that the right voices find the way to the various media
spaces because in such situations the Devil propagates voices of deception and
destruction. One way to guarantee this is for many people who have the voices
of desirable change to be bold and never hesitate to speak the voices that will
steer the masses in the right direction. May the media spaces be filled with
voices that make way for Kingdom driven change and transition.
The Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of
Righteousness (Right way of doing things) and Justice and it is the true hope
for the Zimbabwe We Want. Let us continue to pray for the peace of Zimbabwe. God
Bless Zimbabwe, God Bless Africa.
